Ingredients of Naan khatai

  1. Prepare 1 cup of all purpose flour.

In Afghanistan and Northeast Iran, these biscuits are called Kulcha-e-Khataye.



Naan khatai instructions

  1. Set all ingredients.
  2. Take a bowl and add butter and beat unt soft then add sugar and beat until fluffy.
  3. Now take another bowl and add all dry ingredients.
  4. Add salt cardamom powder and baking powder and mix together.
  5. Add this dry ingredients into sugar and butter mixture and beat well.
  6. Now together it and make dough.
  7. Now set butter pepper in baking tray and make small balls and set with some distance.
  8. Brush egg yolk.
  9. Put a pateela with salt on high flame and pre heat it for 10 min.
  10. Now put naan khatai into it and bake for 15-20 minute delecious naan khatai is ready.

Kulcha is a type of Indian bread similar to. Nankhatai is one cookie which was made in India even when ovens were not all that common. In fact this is the only cookie that I can remember from my childhood that people used to bake at home using those traditional ovens with glass top. Nan Khatai are crunchy, shortbread like cookies flavored with cardamom are one of the very few baked goodies that my mum used to make for us while we were growing up. Baking was not an easy thing to do back then.
